Senate on a collision course with Buhari over Perm Sec’s refusal to honour invitation

On Sunday, there seemed to be an imminent clash between the Presidency and the Senate over an alleged attempt by the Presidency to disrespect the senate president.

Pro-Saraki senators are accusing the Presidency of asking the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Anastacia Nwaobia, to an invitation by the upper chamber.

The Federal government through the National Sports Commission (NSC) has threatened to stop the planned unveiling of Sunday Oliseh as the new head coach of Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday July 15th.

Boy collapses in plane after wearing 12 layers of clothing to avoid excess luggage fee

I don't know how he came up with the idea but I doubt he will try it again after his experience. James McElvar, 19 (pictured above) an upcoming singer with a Scottish group called Rewind, collapsed from heat exhaustion on a plane because he was wearing all his clothes - all 12 layers of them comprising of 6 t-shirts, 4 jumpers, 3 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of jogging bottoms, a pair of jackets and two hats to avoid paying excess luggage fee. The airline told him he was carrying too many luggages and he would have to pay £50 for excess baggage. To avoid paying the money, he wore his clothes.
He was on his way from London to Glasgow when his body temperature sky-rocketed, causing him to have a fit and pass out at 37,000 feet. He was attended to by an off-duty paramedic, before being rushed to hospital on arrival at the airport.
He is doing well now...and today he recreated how he looked on the day he collapsed. (above)

Man dies during church deliverance in Benin (See his photo)

A 45 year old man named Osayande Ekhator, died on Tuesday July 7th during a deliverance session at a pentecostal church named Hope Ministry aka Holy Ghost Deliverance centre located at Okwanga Street in the Egor LGA are of Edo State. According to reports, the man's family brought him to the church for spiritual cleansing a day before he died after battling an undisclosed ailment for sometime.

During the deliverance session the next day, which the man - with a mental illness - had reportedly shown interest in participating in, he died. Witnesses claim the man's legs and hands were tied and at some point he was thrown on the hard floor. Some say he fell on a hard object and hit his head. He was bleeding from the head when he was rushed to the hospital. (picture above).

Last week, this Elsa cake went viral on social media after someone shared photos of the cake that was ordered and the one that was received (see here) but the little girl who got it for her birthday was thrilled to have it and didn't care that it looked nothing like the original one. The cake was made by a baker for the Icing Smiles charity, for sick children.

The son of the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation & Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, on Sunday July 5th crashed his father's 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo which cost about N40m, into a fuel queue in Abuja while racing with some of his friends.

According to Abusidiqu.com, the younger Adoke and his friends, who were driving a Mercedes-Benz C class were racing in the city centre of when he lost control around Maitama roundabout leading to Transcorp Hilton hotel and crashed into a fuel queue. See the photos after the cut..

House of Reps leadership tussle: Pro-Dogara group say they won't accept Gbajabiamila for House Majority Leader

Pro-Dogara group in the House of Reps say they will never accept Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as the House Majority Leader. In a statement signed by Abdulmumini Jibrin representing Kano state, the group said true federal character as stated in the Nigerian constitution for the appointment of key positions in the National assembly must be enforced. 

 

The group argue that the North East and the South West cannot produce any principal officer again after Hon Dogara from Bauchi state in the North East and Yusuf Lasun from Osun state in the South West already occupy key positions as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively. 

The group has however offered to give the Gbajabiamila faction the opportunity to produce the next Majority leader but says that Femi Gbajabiamila himself cannot occupy the position. This has however been refused by the Gbajabiamila led faction who have said their position to ensure that Femi Gbajabiamila is made Majority Leader is non negotiable

Ekiti PDP Accuses Buhari Of Meeting With Murder Suspect

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti state has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for meetings with the Ekiti state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Jide Awe, in the Presidential Villa.

The criticism follows the accusation that Jide Awe is wanted for alleged murder in the state.
These claims came in a statement made on Sunday by the party’s publicity secretary, Jackson Adebayo.
Adebayo said that Awe is wanted by the police in Ekiti over the murder of Ayi Murphy Jeje and Juliana Adewummi in Erinjiyan-Ekiti in 2013.

Nnamani Vows To Expose Third Term Actors, Blasts APC

Former senate president, Ken Nnamani, has revealed that he will soon expose those behind the third term bid of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo. 
He decried the situation where major actors in the failed project are now beginning to feign ignorance about the project and denying their participation in the failed bid.

The Obasanjo administration had tried to extend its tenure as the administration was preparing to leave office but the extension didn’t see the light of the day as it was quashed by the National Assembly then.
The failed project was known as “third term”, and many politicians, including Obasanjo have since denied having a hand in the project.

Over the weekend, two popular African footballers; Emmanuel Emenike and Emmanuel Adebayor reportedly converted to Islam. Daily Post informs that Emenike announced his conversion during a conversation with a coach of his club Vitor Pereira.
The top scorer at AFCON 2013 was absent when the squad had breakfast on Saturday, prompting the manager to ask his whereabouts.

When asked by Sahara Reporters why he was not using one of the aircraft in the presidential fleet, Dogara explained that he was told that those planes were not allowed to fly into Asaba, the Delta state capital, due to the unacceptable state of the airport.

How Oyegun's Resignation Will Affect APC

Senator Francis Alimikhena of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has explained the effect that the resignation of the party chairman, Chief John Oyegun, will have on the party.
The senator representing Edo north, who doubles as the deputy chief whip of the Senate, told Vanguard in an interview, that his resignation will not signal an end to the party’s crisis, and insisted that the entire National Working Committee (NWC) of the party should be phased out if the chairman must leave.

Alimikhena, a retired military officer, who believes that the APC is going through leadership challenges presently, noted that the issues would be resolved amicably as it is not alien to the party alone.

The senator, who is the only APC representative from the south-south, said: “I do not believe that he should resign because any decision taken rightly or wrongly is a collective responsibility. If they feel that Oyegun has not done well, it is not only Oyegun that should go, all the National Working Committee, NWC of the APC should go. But I don’t think he should go, it is just a matter of consensus.
