FGC Yobe Attack: 'Some Of Our Students Were Slaughtered' – Teacher Recounts Ordeal

A teacher at the Federal Government College Buni Yadi in Yobe State has described the killing of over 40 students by the Boko Haram terrorists as a horror night.
The teacher who pleaded for anonymity said that the students were mercilessly wasted.

According to him, “This is more than religion, I am a teacher, and a muslim, but whoever saw the corpses of those students and was told this is about religion or politics, will definitely say that Islam or politics has no meaning.

“This is why Islam is being regarded as violent, because when people in other places hear of this, they would quickly conclude that this is what Islam is teaching, and this is very unfortunate.

“When we say politics, of course it is always violent but these are students and not some members of a political opposition group. We have lost over 30 students or more in a most brutal manner and government is still telling us they are fighting Boko Haram”.

He said there were indicators which showed that some people were gaining from the crises, adding that as such, it may not end soon as expected unless drastic action is taken on the side of government both at state and the federal level.

He said there were no soldiers when the killing was going on, stressing that “after the killings, we learnt that soldiers went in pursuit of the criminals, which to me makes no meaning as this is medicine after death”.
