Oritsejafor Urges Fulani Herdsmen To Adopt Modern Ranches

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria on Wednesday, advised farmers agitating for grazing reserves to forget the idea and adopts modern ranches.

Oritsejafor gave the advise while delivering a key note address at the CAN National Executive Committee meeting held in Makurdi, Benue State.

The cleric also revealed that 80 percent of the people killed by the radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram were Christians, and insisted that the sect is advocating a jihad in Nigeria.
Oritsejafor urged the cattle rearers, especially the Fulani herdsmen to adopt modern ranches as it would also be created for meat processing.

The CAN president while speaking on the activities of the insurgents said: "Who gave them AK 47, who trained them on how to handle the weapons and I wonder why they are not arrested and prosecuted". 

Meanwhile, the issue of cattle grazing has generated a lot of conflicts between settlers in the norther central part of the country, especially in Benue and its neighbouring Taraba state, where scores of people have been killed following the disputes that erupted over grazing land. Most of the deadly attacks were suspected to be carried out by Fulani herdsmen who came under intense criticism before an elder statesman, Professor Jubril Muhammad Aminu, absolved them of any wrongdoing.
