Nigeria Men Football Team headcoach Stephen Keshi has granted an exclusive interview to al jazeera describing his plans and ambition for the next world cup.


















HE also talks about the Osaze situation and Ike Uche's exclusion while also revealing how Mikel won back his place before the 2013 AFCON.

Al Jazeera: Brazil 2014 is on the horizon. Nigerians are excited. You’ve set the bar high by winning the African Cup of Nations. What are your expectations for the summer?

Stephen Keshi: I just hope that my players are in good health. That’s key for us. Before the Mexico game [friendly], I lost Bright Dike and I would’ve loved to have him there. Now he’s out of the World Cup. After that, I’m just going to take it match by match.

Madonna To Make A Return To Film Directing

Bad reviews and poor box office figures have not put the singer off as it has been revealed she is to get behind the camera again.

It is news movie fans may not want to hear but Madonna is to direct another film.

The Queen of Pop will get behind the camera for the screen version of Ade: A Love Story which is a romantic tale set on an African island.

The film will be based on the debut novel by Rebecca Walker - the daughter of Alice Walker, who wrote The Colour Purple.

Madonna's last directing effort was in 2011 with WE, which was based on King Edward VIII's relationship with American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

The film was slated by critics and did poorly at the box office, making little over £500,000 worldwide at cinemas.
Her return was reported by Deadline.com where Ms Walker posted a message saying: "It's official."

(AP) Columbus Short, a lead actor on the television series "Scandal," was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge that he seriously injured a man during an altercation at a restaurant earlier this month.
Short was arrested by police in Claremont on a warrant issued in a case that alleges he committed a battery that caused serious bodily harm.

The actor was involved in a dispute with a man at a West Los Angeles restaurant March 15 before Short hit the man and knocked him out, according to Los Angeles police and prosecutors. Further details about the altercation were not released.

Platini eyes FIFA presidency

UEFA president Michel Platini said Thursday he would decide later in the year whether to seek the presidency of the FIFA world federation.

Platini, 58, told the European federation’s congress in Astana he would hold talks with individual member countries in the coming months before deciding his future plans.

FIFA and UEFA are to hold leadership elections in 2015. Current FIFA president Sepp Blatter, 78, has not formally announced whether he will stand again but has said he will do so if asked by member nations.

Referring to the elections, Platini said “as these concern you first and foremost, we will discuss them all together at (executive) meetings after the summer.

“I will be there to listen to you, as usual, and we can then take decisions together, as we always do.”
Blatter is expected to announce his decision at the FIFA Congress in Rio de Janeiro in June just ahead of the start of the World Cup finals.

‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’ Hits Cinemas In April

Half of A Yellow Sun, the highly-anticipated adaptation of the international bestselling novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, will be released in all Nigerian cinemas on Friday, 25 April.

This was announced recently by Shareman Media, the Nigerian producer, and FilmOne Distribution, the Nigerian distributor of the feature film.

Half of a Yellow Sun, which had its world premiere at the 38th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada to great applause last year, was subsequently premiered in Europe at the BFI London Film Festival, London.

The film will be released in cinemas in Australia from 27 March, in the United Kingdom from 11 April, and in the United States in the early summer.

Set in the 1960s in Nigeria, the movie is an epic love story, weaving together the lives of four people caught up in the turbulence of the Nigerian civil war.

It was shot in the Tinapa Studios in Calabar and in various locations in Creek Town, and employed several hundreds of local residents. Directed by the Nigerian playwright, Biyi Bandele, the movie stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, the BAFTA award winner and Oscar-nominated actor for 12 Years a Slave, and BAFTA Award-winning actor Thandie Newton.

It also has Genevieve Nnaji, Onyeka Onwenu, O. C. Ukeje, Zack Orji and Anika Noni Rose among the supporting cast.

The Nigerian premiere will be sponsored by Etisalat, the Wheatbaker Hotel and Arik Air.

Dr. Sid Explains ‘Surulere’
