Islamic Cleric Rapes Teenager, Assaults Mother In Lagos

Officials of the Lagos State police command have arrested an Islamic cleric, Abdullahi Omobolaji, a.k.a Alfa over what he allegedly did to a 17-year-old teenager, Idowu (pseudonym).

Punch reported that the Islamic cleric allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the teenager in Bakare Lane, Agege area of the state, where she lives with her mother and siblings.

It was gathered that the Alfa, who lived in Abule Egba area of the state had a room apartment on Bakare Lane where he receives clients, who come for spiritual help.

Governor Lamido Is Under Pressure By Presidency

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that the Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido, is under pressure from the presidency to discredit Muhammadu Buhari in order to damage his reputation before Nigerians.

Mallam Garba Shehu, the spokesman of the APC presidential campaign organisation, made the statement at a news conference in Abuja, The Nation reports.

According to the APC, Lamido is being forced to give an interview to a radio station alleging that Buhari will only be a figurehead president if elected, while the vice president will lead the country.
Shehu stressed that the governor could not speak on the leadership style of Buhari because he had never worked with him.

Kwankwaso Spends N300m On Deputy Governor's Office

It has been revealed how Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano state spent close to N303 million to build a new office for the deputy governor of the state, Dr Umar Ganduje.

Kwankwaso himself revealed this while speaking at the commissioning of the new building. He disclosed that he spent  the N303 million to accommodate the office of the deputy governor and other parastatals under his supervision.

He stated that his administration had rebuilt the fence of the Government House, which was once destroyed by hoodlums some years back, to a better one with electric cables and succeeded in turning the house into a modern one.

It will be recalled that a governorship candidate in Katsina state (name withheld) had lost the sum of N500 million in campaign funds to one of his aides.

The candidate who until last December was a prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is currently contesting for the governorship seat on the platform of a newly registered political party.

Meanwhile, some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kafur local government area of Katsina state have made the decision to leave the party and join the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

35 year old Nigerian man, Emmanuel Ndegwe, (pictured above) has been sentenced to 6 years in jail for breaking into the homes of some women with the intent of sexually attacking them.

At a court proceedings which took place at the Inner London Crown Court yesterday March 10th, Detective Inspector Tracey Miller, of Lambeth borough, told the court that Emmanuel attacked the women in their homes in 2013 and 2014.

According to The Punch, the two-day-old baby was found around 4 pm at Marina, close to Wema Bank Plc. He was later picked up by Oscar Odiboh who runs a non-governmental organisation in Lagos.

Kaduna Denies Buhari Access To Rally Venue – APC

The All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State has made it known that its presidential candidate, Rtd. Gen. Muhammad Buhari was denied access to the Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna, for his North-West zonal rally.

Punch reports that the APC in the state made it known that the Kaduna State government in a deliberate act disallowed Buhari to use the Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna, for his North-West zonal rally ahead of the rescheduled March 28 and April 11 general elections. The rally which is supposed to hold today (Wednesday) had all the venue planned yesterday (Tuesday)  and had reached an advanced stage when the zonal office of the party was informed that the state had refused the party the permit to use the facility.

“The PDP is jittery already. They are simply afraid of the popularity strength of the APC in the state and indeed the northern part of the state,” a party official, who asked not to be named, said.
Punch further made it known that the spokesman for Governor Mukhtar Yero, Malam Ahmed Mayaki neither picked calls to his mobile nor respond to a text message sent to his phone on the development. Meanwhile, the APC in the state has accused the Yero-led administration of preparing the ground for crisis ahead of the elections in the state.

Troops Kill Scores Of Boko Haram Insurgents In Adamawa

Nigerian troops reportedly killed scores of Boko Haram insurgents on Monday evening in Gombi town, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to Daily Trust report, the soldiers ambushed the insurgents, who were trying to enter the town of Gombi.

This was disclosed on Tuesday, March 10, in statement by the acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kakasheka Usman.

Report surfaced yesterday that the terrorist sect had launched a deadly attack on Gombi.
The statement read: “The terrorists were engaged by troops of 23 Brigade Nigerian Army in a gun battle that led to killing of quite a number of them, destruction and recovery of vehicles, motorcycles, various calibre of weapons and ammunitions.

MEET Nigeria's Youngest Governorship Candidate (PHOTOS)

One interesting story about the 2015 elections which many may not know is that Nigerians might get to witness the swearing in of the youngest governor ever on May 29.

Over the years, there have been calls for the empowerment of women and youths in the country and to a reasonable extent, these calls seem to have been gradually embraced by the government.
President Goodluck Jonathan in July 2011 appointed 12 female ministers to his cabinet including Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the minister of finance and co-ordinating minister for the economy; Diezani Alison-Madueke,  the minister of petroleum; Ruqqayatu Rufai, the minister of education who was later replaced by Mr Shekarau in 2014.

Now Nigerians might witness the swearing in of the youngest governor ever come May 29, if the PDP governorship aspirant in Niger state, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, at just over 40 years, wins the election.

Bode George Tells Tinubu To Stop Copying Awolowo

Rumours persist that the former governor of Lagos state and All Progressives Congress national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is vying to be recognized in such high esteem as Asiwaju of the Yoruba people and former premier of Western Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

As such it is believed that Tinubu wants to be conferred with the title of Asiwaju of the Yoruba people which has led to many run-ins with different obas of Yoruba land, groups and even politicians.

For the sake of clarity, I must first point out that while all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, it is all work and no exercise that makes him an unfit one. From all indications earlier in the week, Friday 7th March, 2015 was meant to be a busy day for members and supporters of both the ruling People’s Democratic Party and the opposition APC.

In Abuja, there was a scheduled fitness march to keep the blood of Nigerian sports people along with party hierarchy and President Goodluck Jonathan, buzzing. An equivalent march in Lagos, billed initially to be a million-man march of opposition members was to hold in Lagos from Maryland to Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

As early as 8am, I and several other supporters of the President walked with him from Aso Rock to Eagle Square where we also jogged around. Some of the pictures from the walk have been swarming social media; one in particular stood out. It was that of President Jonathan doing the hop in an aerobics session. Pictures of him working out in the gym have surfaced from time to time and this further proved that the man is mentally and physically fit to rule Nigeria.

Immediately after the rally ended at 11am, he went back to the State House, freshened up and flew to pay courtesy visits to the Ooni of Ife and Owa Obokun of Ijesaland and attend rallies in their domain.
Enter General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd). After he and his party played hide-and-seek with Nigerians over his whereabouts, the man returned to the country and was conspicuously missing from a march that was the perfect opportunity for him and the top party brass to reassure their supporters that he was fit as a fiddle.

The APA presidential candidate was very confident and optimistic that he would defeat both his  main opponents, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhamadu Buhari, if the election is free and fair.

Cleaner Who Returned N12m Narrates Her Story

The story of Josephine Agwu shows that with the existence of wise and humble Nigerians, the country will not only survive but also prosper.

Miss Agwu works as a cleaner with Patovilki, a concessionaire handling the cleaning of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Vanguard starts. On her ordinary working day the woman found $28,000 and other foreign currencies totaling about N12m in one of the toilets. She never kept this money and did not even think about it, but refunded the whole sum to the owner.

Boko Haram Crisis: Nigerian Truck Drivers Open Up

Nigerian truck drivers who have been affected by Boko Haram insurgency have criticized the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to them, he has not handled the Boko Haram conflict well and has been complicit in the group’s growth over the years. Some say his complicity lies in his neglect of the north-east.
Some even refer to him as “the chairman of Boko Haram“, BBC reports.

One of the truck drivers identified as Mr Abubakar said: “President Jonathan is just as guilty as those Boko Haram killers because he has chopped off all the money to repair the roads.
“The killings are too much and have been going on for too long.
“President Jonathan is not doing anything. We hope he will leave – we want change.”

The president, governors and other top politicians rarely fly with commercial flights as they own private jets.
It appears the Nigeria’s First Lady and wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan flies commercial sometimes.
She was spotted a while back on a British Airways commercial flight from Abuja to London.
Patience, her children, aides and protocol flew first class and were picked up directly from the plane by a bulletproof car.

ACF Warns GEJ, PDP, Over Recent Comment On Election

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has warned President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over their comments on the forthcoming elections.

A member of the group who is an elder statesman, Ibrahim Babankowa, who gave the warning, said the remarks attributed to Mr. President and his party in the media over the 2015 general election has dampened the expectation for credible elections.

YABATECH SUG Embarks On Stomach Infrastructure

The Students Union Government (SUG) of Nigeria’s oldest tertiary institution, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Yaba, Lagos, seem to have learned the art of ‘stomach infrastructure’ from some Nigerian politicians.

The SUG of the school recently hosted  some of the students of the institution in what could best be described as a feast.

Naij.com gathered that the students went to the SUG building in their numbers to receive their share of the ‘national cake’ since they were always required to pay SUG fees as part of their school fees.
Eyewitnesses at the scene of collection, however told our correspondent that the students left no stone unturned to ensure that they got their portion of the food item.

One of the students who made this disclosure on the condition of anonymity, explained that, “every year before a new set of excos arrive, the outgoing ones kill cow and cook rice for all students to enjoy themselves.

“This year, it was not an exemption as the students queued to get their portions and, it was really a sight to behold because of the way they were rushing for the food.

“I stayed in my hostel and watched all that was happening sha because it looked really embarrassing seeing students jump on such things”.

Kwankwaso Comes To The Rescue Of Football

The Kano state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, yesterday paid a visit to three football players at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

The three players were victims of an attack by ​armed robbers in Abaji, Abuja on the Kano Pillars team coach.

The team were travelling to Owerri, Imo state for a game against Heartland FC.

The three players, Adamu Murtala, Gambo Muhammad and Otakpa Oneji were shot during the attack, and had the bullets removed at the hospital.

Kwankwaso prayed for the victims and said that the attack was barbaric.
He told the players not to worry about the hospital bills, that the government would take care of it.

He then prayed for the players’ quick recovery and proceeded to conduct a quick excursion of the hospital alongside the state commissioner of health, Abubakar Yusuf, in the company of officials of Kano Pillars FC and senior staff of the hospital​.​


The Kano Pillars team were attacked last week by armed robbers as they were on their way to play their NPL first game.

Question: what would it mean in practical terms for Boko Haram and for ISIS?
Well its easy to read off the same script because it’s all pretty much online but the question of what the practical implications are of course really up in the air, my personal view, it’s that (of course this is a hunch and not based on any investigation) the Islamic state has practically reached out to Boko Haram partly because the Islamic state has so much money.

Soldiers Kill Six Christian Worshippers In Kaduna

Reports reaching us from the southern part of Kaduna state indicate that soldiers of the Nigerian army in the area have committed an atrocity as they reportedly shot dead six Christian worshippers on Sunday.

A witness, who gave his name as Christopher, told The Nation that the incident occurred at St Peters Catholic Church in Gidan-Waya area of Jama’a local government area of the state.

He said the soldiers allegedly shot the church’s security guards who mounted a temporary stop and search checkpoint in front of their church during mass, adding that many other worshippers sustained various degrees of injury.

Two Men Of God Caught With 5 AK47 Rifles In Church

Two callous men of God and General Overseers of two different churches have been arrested by detectives attached to the Mon­itoring Unit of the Imo state police command.

The suspects, Clifford Nmenabu, of God Covenant of Christ the King Sabbath Missionary and Festus Daniel Igwe, the founder of Zion House of Prayer Sabbath Mission­ary were said to have allegedly procured five AK47 rifles for use during the forthcom­ing general elections.

According to the state commissioner of police, Abdulmajid Ali, the men were apprehended following a tip-off that they had acquired some firearms, The Sun reports.

I Saw Hell In Boko Haram's Den, Mechanic Declares

A household provisions seller, Kwatri, has narrated how his claim that he was a mechanic and a Muslim helped him to escape from Boko Haram’s den in Mubi, Adamawa state.

Kwatri, who is a Christian, while narrating his ordeal in Boko Haram’s den to Daily Times at the NYSC camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Damare in Adamawa state, informed that he repeatedly chanted: “Allahu Akbar” when he was confronted with death in the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents.

According to Kwatri, when the terrorists learnt he was a mechanic, they knew he could be put to good use because their vehicles often need the attention of mechanics.

While narrating how he was kidnapped by the Boko Haram insurgents, Kwatri, who stated that he had to name himself Mohammed, said: “I regret the day I chose to go to Mubi to buy goods for my provision shop in Michika. On that fateful day, I remember I asked my wife what should I buy for her and she replied that I should buy anything eatable.

“On reaching Maraban Mubi, I noticed that all the roads were blocked and I told myself that it must be the Nigerian army because all the people there were wearing khaki.

“Unknown to me, they were Boko Haram insurgents and had already levelled the whole of Maraban Mubi. There was nowhere to run to as the roads were had been blocked.

“Suddenly, somebody barked orders at me. I immediately knew that my life was in danger.” Then, one of the terrorists asked: “What do you do for a living?

“I lied and said, ‘I am a mechanic and shouted Allahu Akbar’. One of them said they should not kill me because of my skills as a mechanic.”

Kwatri added that the insurgents then bundled him into a Hilux pickup van and drove deep into Sambisa forest.

He said: “There I saw thousands of people from all walks of life doing one thing or the other. The Boko Haram members are really prepared for anything, seeing how well-organized they are and the structure of their leadership.

Latest reports inform that some dissatisfied Igbos in Lagos state, under the aegis of Aka Ikenga, the umbrella group of Igbos in Lagos, met with the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos state, Jimi Agbaje on Sunday.

According to Thisday newspaper report published online, while expressing their unfair lot in the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in Lagos State, the dissatisfied Igbos extracted commitment of a fair bargain from Agbaje during the meeting which took place in the Victoria Island home of Ambassador Greg Mbadiwe.

It was disclosed that the president of the Aka Ikenga, Mr Goddy Uwazurike, stated that the forth coming election will be a contest in which the Igbos will have to battle for freedom from certain individuals who have so-to-say, annexed Lagos state.

While speaking at the occasion, Agbaje ran through the prisms of his campaign programme and promised fair and equal treatment to Igbos, in terms of appointment, employment and business.
