Nigeria and Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has been sidelined for the next month after undergoing minor knee surgery.
The surgery has also meant that the Super Eagles football star will not be able to help his teammates in Nigeria’s international friendly against Bolivia on March 26, 2015 in Uyo.
According to This Daily, Mikel was already absent from Chelsea’s past four matches, including Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the League Cup final.
Talking to the English press, Chelsea’s Manager, Jose Mourinho, confirmed the information by saying:
“Mikel had a little surgery on his meniscus. We are expecting him to be out for about a month – one week is already gone. There is not too much optimism or pessimism.
“I would say he will return first week of April.”
Mikel is likely to miss the English Premier League matches against West Ham, Southampton and Hull City as well as Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.
