The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the appointment of former Nigerian International, Emmanuel Amunike, as the new head coach of the Nigerian male U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets.
He
stated that that Amunike’s appointment was borne out of the need for
continuity, since Amunike was an assistant to Manu Garba, who led the
Golden Eaglets to World Cup glory in 2013.
“We have opted for continuity because these coaches are highly experienced and qualified to continue with the progress we are making.“We’ve had a couple of disappointing experiences in the past and it was felt that we couldn’t take the same route again,” NFF official said.
Mr
Ikpeme also noted that the new Eaglets’ head coach used to be a great
player and that the NFF believes that Emmanuel Amunike deserved his new
role, as the new manager of U-17 National Team.
