PDP South-West Chieftains Agreed To Work Together To Regain Ekiti

Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from all the six South West states have decided to work together in order to win the Ekiti State Governorship election.

Waheed Olatunde Lawal, the South West Zonal publicity Secretary of the party made this known to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday following the preliminary meeting of the party in Ado Ekiti.

He said the party’s stalwarts took the decision few days to the state governorship poll because it was very imperative for them to unanimously agree to work together in order to return the zone to the mainstream of the nation’s politics.

The secretary also revealed that two committees were set up to appease all aggrieved party chieftains, especially those aspirants who participated in the last primaries.
According to him, the committees would be headed by Otunba Adebayo Alao- Akala, the former Governor of Oyo State and Chief Shuaib Oyedokun. 

“The meeting agreed to work with the Chief Ishola Filani led-South-West Executive, since Congress could not hold. The turnout of leaders was very impressive and an indication that the leaders had accepted the Filani-led South West Executive” Lawal said.

The secretary reiterated that all the leaders have agreed to address the disputes among the aggrieved members from its origin.  

In another development, Lawal reacted to the statement credited to the publicity secretary of the Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dauda Kolawole, who described Alao- Akala as “a day dreamer on his aspiration”.

It would be recalled that during the week, Alao- Akala assured that the PDP would take back the South West, an assertion which made the APC to describe him as “a day dreamer”.

“PDP has an array of credible and winning aspirants that will floor Ajimobi in 2015.The decision is around the corner and we shall use our thumbs to send the APC-led government parking” Lawal said.
