Yakubu Dogara, the speaker of the House of Representatives, has flown to Delta state in a private jet.
When asked by Sahara Reporters why he was not using one of the aircraft in the presidential fleet, Dogara explained that he was told that those planes were not allowed to fly into Asaba, the Delta state capital, due to the unacceptable state of the airport.
He added that a smaller 8-seater jet was later assigned to him, but that he declined to use it because of the number of his associates.
Dogara said that he visited the state on his way to Ubulu-Uku to commission a project.
The working trip was to commission an altar in a church in Ubulu-Uku, a town in Aniocha local government area.
The altar was funded by Amaechi Mrakpor, a pastor of “King Jesus and I” who was newly elected member of the House of Representatives representing Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency.
During the visit to Asaba, Dogara paid a courtesy call on Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta state governor, and later met with traditional rulers in the state.
Dogara’s election to the position of House speaker, along with that of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate president, was against the wishes of APC leaders, and caused a crisis in the ruling party which is yet to be resolved.
