Pistorius may pay parents of slain girlfriend $184,000

Oscar Pistorius may reach a settlement with his slain girlfriend's parents.
The parents of Reeva Steenkamp, the slain girlfriend of South African Oscar Pistorius, may get a settlement of $184,000 from the Paralympian, a report says.

Pistorius, who is charged with murder in the death of Steenkamp, has not been ordered to pay her parents but his attorneys are in negotiations with them, News 24 reported Monday.

Steenkamp died at Pistorius' home in Pretoria in February 2013. Pistorius has claimed he shot her after he mistook her for an intruder.

The Steenkamps run a pub near Port Elizabeth they bought with money paid for interviews after their daughter's death.
