JUSTICE FOR ALL: Two Men Will Die by Hanging for Raping a Teen Girl to Death

An Osogbo High Court in Osun State on February 12, 2014, Wednesday, sentenced two young men to death by hanging for raping a teen girl to death.
 

The convicts, identified as Suraju Olarewaju and Lekan Olatayo were arraigned in 2005 on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

Their victim was a 14-year-old girl, Bilikisu Adeyemi.

The Prosecutor, Mrs Folashade Adekanmi, had previously told the court that the two young men committed the offences on June 1, 2005 at Abesu area of Osogbo.

She said the convicts blocked the nose of the deceased with a loaf of bread while raping her at about midnight.

She said the accused had also confessed to the crime. 

In her judgment, Justice R.A. Shiyanbola, said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubts and sentenced the duo to death by hanging.

She said the men had contravened Sections 319 (1) and 324 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2004.
