Aggrieved PDP Senators Meet Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday night held a closed-door meeting with the aggrieved senators representing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

What was discussed at the meeting could not be ascertained, as it was not open to journalists, Punch reports.

According to the initial information, the senators were led to the meeting by the President of the Senate, David Mark.

The meeting, which took place inside the First Lady’s Conference Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was attended by some PDP members of the House of Representatives and some state governors elected on the party’s platform.
Also in attendance were some members of the party’s National Working Committee led by the National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.

They were said to have threatened to shut down legislation in protest of their losses at the party’s ward congresses, saying President Jonathan had handed PDP structures in their states to the governors.

The PDP caucus, led by Mark, had gone into a crucial meeting after sitting on Wednesday to discuss the ways on how to confront President Jonathan and the PDP over their displeasure.
Recall, it was recently reported that  over their senatorial ambitions ahead of the 2015 general elections.
