Transfer news: New Chelsea signing Nemanja Matic raring to go against manchester united.

Nemanja Matic is ready to make an instant impact on his return to Chelsea and wants to start against Manchester United on Sunday.

Matic completed a £21million transfer back to Stamford Bridge from Benfica Wednesday night, having left the club three years ago as part of the £25m deal which saw David Luiz come the other way.

Many new arrivals from abroad need time to adapt to their surroundings but Matic is on familiar territory and, crucially, arrives already in the big-game mindset.

He made his last appearance for Benfica just four days ago in a match against fierce-rivals Porto and helped them secure a 2-0 victory.

It certainly makes the prospect of his second debut for Chelsea at home against the defending champions less daunting.

He said: “The coach (Jose Mourinho) has to decide but I am ready. I am in training, I played the last game on Sunday against Porto so I don’t have any problems.”

The defensive midfielder’s return to Chelsea has strengthened one of their few areas of weakness.

It has been a real problem for Chelsea coaches  since the departure of Claude Makelele in 2008 and no one has performed consistently enough to make the position his own.
