Onazi Goes To Church To Pray For Eagles' Victory

Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi said that his first destination upon arrival to Nigeria is church ahead of the important Super Eagles encounter with Congo in the course of the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Lazio player, whose arrival to Nigeria was scheduled for Sunday night, is going to search for spiritual help for the must-win Saturday qualifier, Nigerian Tribune reports.
He was quoted saying while in Italy:

“Once I arrive in Nigeria, I will go to my father in the Lord to pray with me, because I want the Nations Cup ticket and I know we can win in Congo. We must also cooperate and forget past differences to achieve our aim.”



The active training is to start today, and the footballers came into the camp with the Eagles’ head coach Stephen Keshi, who commented:
“We have no time for this game and the players know, so all of them must be here early enough for the trip to Congo.”
“I’m confident that we shall beat Nigeria, which will guarantee our place in next year’s tournament.”

It would be recalled that the match is coming amid highly-publicized .

Despite the fact that it had been announced that the Nigerian team would be led in the 2 remaining AFCON qualifiers by another coach, it was disclosed later that President Goodluck Jonathan allegedly interfered into the matter recommending the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ask Keshi back.
