'Slave Masters' Of Modern Nigeria Mistreat Their Workers In Calabar

How The 'Slave Masters' Of Modern Nigeria Treat Their Workers
The situation with the rights of labourers remains critical in Nigeria. The companies know that due to extreme unemployment rate the workers will not go anywhere, will not complain to anybody. Therefore, company owners use this situation to maintain their multi-million-naira salaries, while others get miserable payment, or no money at all.

One of such cases was reported to #OccupyNigeria. The 'slave masters' in a Calabar company, who record 3...5 millions of naira daily sales, 5...10 millions during festive seasons and weekends, pay their workers N12,000...N15,000 only. The other facts about the ruthless company are:
- the work day of those hired starts at 6am and finishes at about 12 midnight;

- they are also forced to return every tips Customers give them back to company management;
- the workers are not allowed to come to work with phones;
- the owners owe these people 3...6 months salaries;
- sometimes they falsely accuse the employees of theft and sack them without any pay.

Most workers resign because of such inhumane conditions. However, the company immediately finds the new ones, without payment of salary arrears to those who left.

The company is named 'De Choice Fast Food'.
Therefore, the movement urged the Government of Cross River State to start investigations of this matter.
