2015: Obanikoro To Work With Agbaje

The Director-General of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro governorship campaign in Lagos, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse has revealed that Obanikoro will withdraw his court case against  the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje.

Punch reports that  the immediate past Minister of State for Defence has decided to work with Agbaje, in a bid to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s polls.

Obanikoro had been having a running battle with Agbaje and  Chief Bode George, a PDP leader in the state, over the governorship primary which was enmeshed in controversy.
Obanikoro also took his case to court after the PDP failed to act on his petition. He then petitioned his party and  described the primary election as a sham.

Dr. Pearse also revealed that President Goodluck Jonathan had intervened in the feud between the party chieftains and promised Obanikoro that he would be given a senior ministerial slot in 2015.

He said, “We have listened to the President’s appeal and have decided to settle out of court. Obanikoro will return as a minister but part of the terms is that he will be given a full ministerial position. We were told that he would head a ministry but we were not told what ministry in particular.

“He will help the President to campaign in Lagos and we will also work with Agbaje. We are willing to work with Chief Bode George and we will reconcile with the party.”

This development is coming barely 48 hours after President Jonathan appealed to aspirants who lost at the primaries to remain in the PDP in the interest of democracy.
