Premium Times reports that the state’s Police Command spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the release of the deputy vice-chancellor on Tuesday night in a text message. He said Mr. Olusanya’s had since been re-united with his family.
“Re-kidnapping at Odogbolu,please be informed that Prof Olusanya the Deputy Vice Chancellor Tasued has been released by his captors and he has been re united with his family,” he said.
The force spokesman, however, declined to give details of how Mr. Olusanya was freed or rescued.
He was kidnapped alongside his driver who was reportedly dropped off by the roadside at Odogbolu.
Meanwhile, Oluyemisi Obilade, TASUED’s Vice Chancellor, had on Tuesday called for an unconditional release of his deputy, Mr. Olusanya. He revealed that the institution had planned to conduct a prayer session to seek divine intervention for the release of the kidnapped university teacher.
Speaking on the abduction, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in the university, Akinsola Akinsanya, decried the rampant cases of abduction in the country. He blamed the situation on the poor state of security in the country and urged security operatives to brace up to combat the trend.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Olusoga Olusanya, of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State, was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen yesterday (Tuesday).
