Boko Haram terrorists make Borno highways unsafe again

AGAIN, Boko Haram Fighters Terrorise Borno HighwaysBoko Haram insurgents, who are currently under enormous pressure from the military in Borno State, have renewed their tactic to attack motorists and commuters along major highways.
According to The Sun, a witnesses reported the terrorists intercepted a truck carrying food items along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, as the driver of the vehicle has fled when he sighted them.
“Our vehicle almost ran into Boko Haram near Benisheik, but for the alert from a car in front. The driver of the private car had suddenly put his car in reverse and then made a quick U-turn back to Damaturu axis of the road, signalling to our driver to turn back too,” he said.
Another witness was returning from Bauchi to Maiduguri in the morning of March 28, 2014, Friday. He was shocked when he learnt the insurgents were on the highway. About 40 vehicles and hundreds of commuters, as well as travellers, were held up at Ngamdu town for about an hour.
“We were there until some policemen came and told us the road had been cleared,” he said.
The exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed.
The residents reported that the insurgents killed two motorists as they struck along Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu Road.

An undisclosed military source confirmed that troops along the major roads were put on “red alert throughout the weekend”, and the regular joint patrols by the police and the soldiers from 7 Army Division, Maiduguri, were carried out.
