CHURCH ATTACK: 2 Policemen Killed, 40 People Injured In Ibadan

At least 6 robbers reportedly invaded the Vine Branch Church church in Ibadan, Oyo State, having killed 2 policemen and having lost 2 of their men to fatal injuries in the attempt to steal the Sunday service offering.
An eyewitness narrated to Sahara Reporters that the hoodlums, who arrived at 12.15 pm, all dressed in black suits and white shirts caught the policemen on duty unawares, as they were mistaken for church worshippers. Two policemen were shot immediately, then 6 robbers entered the church and several others probably stayed outside, the eyewitness said.
According to The Nation, one of the gunmen was shot by the policeman and taken away by the other attackers; however, Sahara Reporters provides that the eye witness saw two robbers shot, adding that they were seriously injured and couldn't survive.

The timely intervention of men of the command saved the situation, as the robbers were unsuccessful in their attempt to steal the cash.
However, Sahara Reporters refers to the eyewitness, according to which the church has 5 exit points and the gunmen used 3 to come in. He claims no one was shot, but people were running away in panic out of the 2 remaining exits, as a result of which many people tripped, some others were suffocated, and they fainted, some sustained bruises, others sustained sprains.
He added that more than 40 worshippers were rushed to the adjacent hospital.
