David Mark Urged Nigerians To Stop Denigrating National Assembly Members

Senate President David Mark stated that the legislators at the National Assembly were doing serious business, called on Nigerians to stop denigrating them over alleged low performance.
He made the call in his speech at Okene, Kogi State, on April 7, 2014, Tuesday.
Mark said that all the decisions and steps being taken on the floor of the Senate were aimed at keeping Nigeria together as one country.

“When it comes to national issues, the upper chamber is one, irrespective of party affiliations and so we act with the interest of Nigeria at heart.
“I also urge Nigerians to have the interest of the nation at heart. They should embrace peace, for without peace, the nation cannot get to where it ought to be,” he said.

Senator Mark spoke at the constituency briefing and Empowerment Programme of Senator Nurudeen Abatemi representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the Senate. He commended the Senator for empowering the people of his district, stressing that legislating went beyond law making since, “as a representative of the people, you cannot tell Nigerians that your duty is only to make laws without empowering the people”.
