JTF Reclaims 4 LGAs In Adamawa

The Joint Task Force, JTF, seems to be gaining upper hand in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents in northern Nigeria as the Nigerian military has announced that its soldiers have reclaimed at least four local government areas in Adamawa State that were previously taken over by the Boko Haram insurgents.

According to the statement released on Monday, 8 December, 2014, by the Nigerian Army, Mubi, Gombi, Maiha and Hong local government areas of Adamawa State earlier captured by the Boko Haram insurgents mid last month are now in full control of the JTF.

Vanguard reports that an army officer who conducted newsmen round the council areas that have been reclaimed from the insurgents at the weekend said that the troops in collaboration with other security agencies chased out the insurgents in the areas.

The officer, who did not want his name published, informed that the military decided to take journalists round the local government areas in a bid to debunk insinuation that Boko Haram insurgents were still in the areas.
He added that it was also to assure residents of the affected areas that their places were safe, well protected and fortified for them to return to their homes.

The announcement came on a day President Goodluck Jonathan commended the nation’s armed forces for their courage and sacrifices in the war against insurgency in parts of the country.
