Anambra Pays Last Respect To Late Dora Akunyili (Photos)

The remains of late Prof Dora Nkem Akunyili arrived Awka, the Anambra State capital, yesterday, August 27, at about 2.00pm for an Honours and Tributes Ceremony held in her honour.
The body arrived at Anambra State Women Development Centre, Awka in a brown golden casket which was accompanied by her husband, Dr Chike Akunyili, her children and other family relatives.
It was then laid at the stage of the auditorium after being received by Governor Willie Obiano and his wife, Ebele.

The former Nigerian Minister for Information and Communication was given a heroic reception by the government and people of the state as the auditorium and canopies were filled up with people including government officials, monarchs, the clergy, youths, workers, friends and well-wishers from across the globe.



Tears flowed freely and tribute continued to pour for the late Dora.
Gov. Obiano said Dora’s life illuminated the lives of many and she lived with premonition that there is no time, adding that her passage was a great loss to Nigeria and Ndi Anambra.
His wife, Mrs. Obiano who wept while reading her tribute to the late former NAFDAC boss, described Dora as her super hero, role model, a great achiever and a woman who stuck her neck to fighting the cause of the people.

On Monday, 25th of August, 2014, a  , at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
President Goodluck Jonathan and other top Nigerian dignitaries paid held in Abuja.
She will be laid to rest today in Agulu, her husband’s town in Anaocha local government area of the state.
