Gov Amaechi Explains Why Some Politicians Are After Him

Rivers State Gov­ernor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has said most of the people opposed to him are those helped in one way or the other including awarding them contracts which they failed to deliver.

Amaechi disclosed this yesterday, August 27, at Oro Igwe community during a meet-the-people tour of commu­nities in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Explaining why he became a target of opposition from some politicians in and outside the state, Amaechi said almost 80 per cent of those fighting him are people he gave billions of naira in contracts and they put the money in their pock­ets without delivering.

The governor said: “I have said that the road at Eneka was given to an Obio/Akpor son. The internal road at Rumuolumeni was given to a Rumuolumeni son. They gave it to one of Obio/Akpor sons to do. They have not done it. They have no fear, no shame. You know, the worst money to steal is the money belonging to your people.

“All the roads in Ru­muepirikom were done by this administration. I gave the contracts to your son and paid 100 per cent. But almost all the roads there have gone bad and they are not major traffic route. It is because of greed.”
According to Daily Sun report, the governor described his opposition as liars and they lie a lot, urging the people to ask his opposition to show them the property he acquired in his eight years as speaker and seven years as governor.
He however thanked the people of the community for the opportunity of meeting with them, asking them to beware of dishonest and selfish people.

Gov. Amaechi and has been at loggerheads with some politicians within and outside Rivers state, especially after he defected from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Chief Nyesom Wike, the minister of state for Education is ne of those who are opposed to the governor and he has claimed that in December 2014 and defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

On Wednesday, August 13, there was as the traditional ruler of Rumueprikom community in Obio Akpor LGA, Eze Anthony Owabie, allegedly shot his son at his palace, over a scheduled visit by Gov. Amaechi to the area.
