Senator Omisore, who rejected the results of the election held on 9
August, 2014, alleged that there were massive irregularities
and monumental fraud perpetrated by the winner of the polls, Ogbeni Rauf
Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a statement signed by the former deputy governor of Osun, Omisore said after a comprehensive review of the processes leading to the outcome of the election in Osun State, he is convinced that there were massive irregularities and monumental fraud perpetrated by Aregbesola and the APC in the state.
“We have decided to challenge this brazen attempt to subvert the wishes of the electorate who came out to support our Rescue Mission Campaign, and gubernatorial candidate of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the tribunal as provided for by the constitution and electoral laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“In our effort, we are mindful of the massive investment in deceit-driven propaganda unleashed on the citizens of Osun State by the APC.

“This, they hope will distract attention from how electoral heist
was perpetrated by the Ogbeni Aregbesola and his colleagues long before
the election and the deployment of O-YES cadets as election officers to
compromise the valid votes of the people of the state,” the statement
read.
He expressed commitment to ensuring that scientific rigging of elections in Osun, and indeed Nigeria was exposed and reversed.
“Our legal team will reveal shocking graphic details of pre-election rigging led by the leadership of the APC who had directed that all its officers relocate to Osun State before the election in addition to the subversive roles these ubiquitous officials played in the election as they compromised some of the INEC officials,” he said.
Omisore said on account of those allegations, and many other damning revelations, he was convinced that the announced outcome of the governorship election in Osun was not a true reflection of the votes cast in the election.
“We shall seek to retrieve our stolen mandate that was freely given to our candidate and party, using legal means as provided for by the constitution and electoral laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We shall continue to provide information to our aggrieved supporters and party members and urge them to go about their lawful duty without any fear of intimidation,” he said.
He said the antics of those who corrupted the electoral system through their ill-gotten wealth would come into the public glare and people would know the pseudo-democrats parading themselves as progressives.
“This is a case that will deepen democracy as shocking revelations will be made during the course of this epic legal battle that will strengthen the course of democracy in Osun State in particular and Nigeria in general.
“We proceed to the tribunal with abiding faith in God who will always make the victory of the unjust pyrrhic and confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the cheated,” he said.
It would be recalled that in the results announced by INEC after the gubernatorial election in Osun, Omisore was beaten hands down by Aregbesola with about 101,937 votes.
