According to the Chairman of the council, Mr. Kumai Badu, the situation had been brought under control.
The
chairman opined that the injured, mainly youths from Manchok town, were
currently receiving treatment at a health centre in Kagoro.

Duniya, who witnessed the clash said trouble started when the youth of
the area protested against the arrest of six members of a vigilance
group by soldiers for alleged armed robbery.
Duniya
said a day to the clash, soldiers in the area received a distressed
call on Wednesday night from a motorist, who claimed to have been robbed
in Manchok.
According to him, the prompt response
to the call led to the arrest of six suspects, who were later taken to
the paramount Chief of the community for amicable resolution of the
matter.
However, the youth, not satisfied, were
said to have protested against the arrest, and in self defence, the
soldiers fired gunshots, leaving six persons sustaining injuries.
