Breaking: Nasarawa Impeachment: State Assembly Orders Chief Judge To Arrange Panel

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has just ordered the Chief Judge, Suleiman Dikko to make a seven man panel to investigate Governor Tanko Al-Makura for gross misconduct of his office.

Last week the Assembly members began the Impeachment proceedings against the governor, bringing up 16 charges of misuse of his office.

The Assembly speaker Musa Mohammed (PDP) was the one who issued the directive to the chief judge after the motion was moved by the majority leader Godiya Akwashiki (PDP).

Mohammed Baba Ibaku (PDP) supported the motion and also 20 PDP lawmakers also co signed while the four All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers in the assembly rejected the motion.
The panel if set up, will be needed to report to the House within seven days. The Nasarawa House member had arrived to the assebly around 6:30 am with huge security and began sitting around 10 am for only 15 minutes before returning to Abuja, where they have been hiding from the Governors alleged thugs.

APC’s Nasarawa state governor, Mr. Al-Makura has been for some months now having problems with the assembly whose majority are PDP elites.

The lawmakers have accused the governor of ordering his thugs to stone them as they left the house and after seeing the way Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako was impeached. They are now trying to impact the same strategy.

Meanwhile the opposition party APC have accused President Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) for being behind these impeachments proceedings.
