Meet Brutus, a giant crocodile, who became a real reptilian celebrity after being photographed eating a shark, the Adelaide River in the Northern Territory of Australia.
Brutus was spotted on camera while digging his teeth in a body of a bull shark
Brutus whose length 5.5-meters was spotted on camera while digging his teeth in a body of a bull shark and immediately attracted international attention. The 80-year-old is known on the river tours for his huge size and the fact that he has a front leg missing – believed to have lost during a fight with a shark.
Despite his venerable age and two-tonne weight Brutus quite often pleases tourists with high and unexpected jumps from water. Now the Adelaide River Cruises has no end of those who wants to take a glance of the unusual creature.
One of the Adelaide River Cruises workers said,
“We get a lot of requests about Brutus.”
“We get a lot of requests about Brutus. We get many phone calls, are you the one who has Brutus? Have we got the right tour to see Brutus? You could say he’s a local celebrity. He’s been with us for quite a few years, we can’t guarantee that he’ll come out at every cruise, but he makes appearances pretty regularly.”
When tourists see him they’re pretty awed
When tourists see him they’re pretty awed. A lot of people who come on these cruises haven’t seen a crocodile before. To see them in the wild up so close, I think they’re awed. It’s like seeing a dinosaur really, that’s what a lot of them say.”
