Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar is appealing to voters ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State to vote Rauf Aregbesola, the incumbent governor and APC candidate, for a second term.

Atiku, whose first wife, Hajiya Titi Atiku Abubakar hails from Ilesa in Osun State made the appeal when he was paid a courtesy visit shortly after his arrival from a trip abroad by a section of Osun leaders.
This was disclosed in a statement from his media office in Abuja which was released yesterday, Daily Sun reports.
“I am urging you to team up with the progressives in your state and Nigeria to put in place good governments that would benefit all and sundry. Please, don’t let me down. Vote Aregbesola and APC,” Atiku pleaded.
He described Aregbesola as a people’s politician, a steward of high repute, great policy maker and implementer who is also simple, humane, humble and fears God. He also has respect for men and women.
Atiku added that his numerous works and high performance ratings would enable him win the election and come back for a second term.
Osun state will be holding its governorship election on Saturday, 9th August. Political analysts have already predicted that the governorship election in Osun would be a contest between APC’s candidate, Aregbesola, and PDP’s flagbearer, Senator Omisore.
It would be recalled that tension between supporters of the APC and PDP had claimed the lives of two people in Ilesha area of Osun last month.
In spite of presence of stern looking security agents in Osogbo, the Osun State capital,multitude of students still came out on Wednesday, 6 August, 2014, to hold a rally in support of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, ahead of the governorship election in the state.
