The National Vice Chairman of the APC for South South, Prince
Hilliard Eta who made the statement, said, it is impossible for Buhari,
to turn Nigeria into an Islamic nation if he becomes the country’s
president.
Eta, who was speaking to journalists in Calabar, said it would have been easier for Buhari to Islamise Nigeria when he was military Head of State, adding that he would not do so if elected in next month’s general elections.
“Buhari had been a military Head of State in Nigeria and had the power to make a decree and it will become a law in Nigeria. At that time, he did not make any attempt to Islamise Nigeria neither did he Islamise Nigeria. Is it now that you need the National Assembly to put a stamp of approval on what you do that he will come and Islamise Nigeria?,” he said.
He advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss better national issues for deliberations rather than fanning the embers of hate and disunity and also propaganda against the APC.
Buhari, recently said he believed that Christians, Muslims should be free in practicing their different religion.
In a related development,The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently said only the courts could disqualify Buhari, ahead of the 2015 general elections.
