Nigeria Play Out Goalless Draw Against Greece

  • Nigeria's Super Eagles today played out an entertaining nil nil draw today in Philadelphia against a strong Greece side.

Keshi had decided to start Mikel, Onazi and surprisingly Osaze as his midfield trio helping out pacy winger Ahmed Musa and Victor Moses with Emenike at the forward position, In defence he used his usual four of Omeruo, Oboabona, Eldersson and Efe Ambrose.

The game started off with the Nigerian side having the early possesion of the ball but with little or no creativity going forward from the midfield.

The Greek team looked forward to counter with every silly mistake committed by the Eagles weird midfield.
The Greek team kept on the pressure and when they won the ball, Enyeama had to pull off a good save to deny Karogounis from getting the opening goal.

Nigeria's chances came only when Moses turned on his pace and took his man on, but it usually resulted in a freekick or corners.

Nigeria lacked execution in the set kick department leading to a lot of Greek counter attacks.
In the second half, Big Boss Stephen Keshi decided to bring on Uchebo for Musa and the game instantly changed with Uchebo playing behind Emenike.

He and Emenike where able to hold the ball for the on coming midfielders and led to multiple chances for the Eagles.

Mikel and Moses suplied a free Uchebo a good pass but twice the big man couldn't direct his cross to the rushing Emenike.

On the 82nd minute Greek Legend Samaras was one on one with Enyeama but the lille player of the year saved twice to deny the big man.

On the 85th minute Onazi had a shot from over 40 yards saved by the Greek keeper and Moses's 20 yard yard strike that seemed destined to go in went wide.

The game ended 0-0 with the Super Eagles looking more hungry for the win at the closing stage of the game.
