Ghana FA Boss And two Others Accused Of Match Fixing

Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, and his associates have been accused of allegedly trying fix games for the national team, the Black Stars.

One Christopher Forsythe, and Chief Executive of premier side Berekum Chelsea FC, Obed Nketiah, has also been accused.

The investigation was carried out by UK newspaper, The Telegraph, and it claims that the Ghanian FA president had allowed the team to participate in games controlled by match fixers, in return for an agreed sum.

The Telegraph had been investigating for over six months and it was revealed that Mr. Nyantakyi  met their undercover reporter and investigator, along with Mr. Forsythe, and Mr Nketiah and agreed to a contract of $170,000 for Black Stars game to be fixed.

The GFA members where unaware that the meeting was being filmed and recorded even as they gentlemen bragged about how sure they were everything would go as planned.

Mr Forsythe Said: “You [the company] will always have to come to us and say how you want it to go…the result,”. “That’s why we will get the officials that we have greased their palms, so they will do it. If we bring in our own officials to do the match…You’re making your money.”

The Ghana FA also alleged that match fixing was ‘a common feature’ in today’s game and said that even in England, It does occur.

He continued: “We will always choose associations or countries that we think we can corrupt their officials for all our matches,” he added.

“You have to give them [the referees] something… they are going to do a lot of work for you, so you have to give them something,” Mr. Nketiah, could also be heard saying.

The men then introduced the undercover reporters to Kwesi Nyantakyi in Miami, USA earlier this month shortly before Ghana faced South Kores in a Pre World Cup friendly.

Mr. Nyantakyi had agreed to the contract and told them the firm that will handle cost of the referees/match officials which would defile FIFA rule that’s against third party involvement in games.

He also required the investment company showcase their talent with two games after the World Cup mundial in Brazil.

Mr Nyantakyi said: “Let’s say there should be an experimental period for us to see how we do your work? There is an opportunity in August, and then in December, but I don’t know about that. But these months appear to be the only time that we can have any opportunity to play friendly games,” he added.

There is no clue that the coach Kwesi Appiah and the players where involved in the plot yet but this revelation comes after the Nigerian team was accused of fixing its game against Scotland.

Meanwhile, Forsythe and Nketiah, have denied the allegations. “These are false allegations, and I will never in my life do such a thing” Mr. Nketiah said.
