Ikedife who spoke to newsmen in his Nnewi country home, said the
Nigeria may break-up following the manner El-Rufai and his fellow
northern elders molested Igbo icons, which was becoming too unbearable.
Reacting to recent report in which El-Rufai accused Ihejirika, the immediate past Chief of Army Staff of being one of the sponsors of Boko Haram, Ikedife described it as another classical case of hounding and haunting of an Igbo icon.
According to Vanguard report, he said such statement was capable of incurring the wrath of Ndigbo.
Ikedife stated: “I wish to recall that when Ihejirika left the Army, those I identified as destroyers of credit and rumour mongers said that he was dismissed from the Army, but my investigation revealed that Ihejirika retired as and when due and was indeed the last member of his course mates to retire from the army.”
He added that after Ihejirika’s retirement some top people in society ganged up against him and dragged him to the International Court of Justice for alleged crime against humanity, accusing him of using undue force and fighting Boko Haram mercilessly.
He explained that, that particular accusation seems to have died down as the stigma they wanted to stick on him failed.
Some days back, El-Rufai had posted on his Facebook account that an Australian negotiator, Stephen Davis, had named Ihejirika as a major sponsor of the terrorists sect.
In response to El-Rufai’s claims, Ihejirika, had said that Mr. El-Rufai is a commander of the deadly Boko Haram sect which is murdering innocent Nigerians in northeastern Nigeria.
Meanwhile, following a series of allegations by the Australian negotiator directed at former Borno governor Ali Modu Sheriff and Ihejirika, the opposition party All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to hand over the said officials to the International Criminal Court.
