The investigations revealed that Jonathan was to declare his either in end of September or in the beginning of the next month, with the presidency source saying the exact date is still in elaboration.
“The preparation is ongoing. It will come either at the end of this month or early October.”
According to the source, the president incumbent would hardly announce his opinion before other politicians either in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or in the All Progressives Congress (APC) make their declarations.
It has been also revealed that Jonathan expected strong opposition from North-East and North-West, where his positions are not that strong.
Meanwhile the supporters of Buhari, who has run for presidency 3 times, are reportedly looking forward for his soon return to Nigeria and to the following discussions proceeding the declaration.
Also, supporters of Buhari are eagerly waiting for him to return to the country from his trip overseas this weekend and round off his consultations in preparatory to his declaration. It has been recently propvided that Buhari was ready to declare on the basis of the APC within several days.
The former general is considered a prospective candidate. The 4-month-old poll showed that Nigerians would be satisfied if Buhari received a ticket.
The 2015 presidential elections are to be conducted February 14. Beginning of September the country leader received endorsement from the North-West chapter of the PDP.
While numerous groups have urged Jonathan to run for re-election within 6-month period, GEJ does not hurry with the move, saying that he will announce his decision whether to contest or not.
