El-Rufai To Sue Ihejirika Over Boko Haram Claim

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he would sue Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika, over claim made by the ex-military boss that El-Rufai is a commander of the Boko Haram sect.

In an interview published in one of the national dailies few days ago, which is murdering innocent Nigerians in northeastern Nigeria.

It was gathered that the Australian negotiator claimed he had related with the Boko Haram since 2006, and worked with past Nigerian presidents and recently with the President Goodluck Jonathan administration where he came close to freeing the over 200 kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls in Borno.
In an interview with Arise TV in Uk, the negotiator said leaders of the sect briefed him that the former army chief, alongside a former governor of the Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff, funded their operations.



Commenting on his plan to sue Ihejirika, El-Rufai said: “People cannot make such outrageous allegations without evidence about others and be allowed to walk free”.
Meanwhile, in spite of the grievous allegations made by the Australian negotiator, the Nigerian government has not made a statement on the matterre.

The Defence Headquarters spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, when contacted on the issue, he referred newsm to the “National Security Adviser, NSA, and political authorities.”
Premium Times reports that when it contacted the NSA and the presidency on the matter,  they both declined to comment as phone calls rang out unanswered. Nigeria’s Information Minister, Labaran Maku, also did not pick his phone calls.

However, a source informed that the top hierarchy of Nigerian Army is not in the mood to investigate the matter, adding that “In cases like this all the structures of government are involved.”
Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, born on 16 February 1960, was also former Director General of The Bureau of Public Enterprises, the head privatisation agency in Nigeria.

His spell with the government began under the transition government of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, where he served as an adviser in the Transition government.
The former minister was reportedly in self-exile during the tenure of President Umaru Yar’Adua.
El-Rufai is currently a member of All Progressives Congress (APC).
