The deceased was said to have arrived Lagos aboard a United
Airlines Flight UA143 from Houston, Texas at about 3 pm and slumped at
the arrival hall shortly after alighting from the aircraft.
Though the cause of death is yet unknown, a top security operative at the airport said the diplomat may have died of heart-related complications, Punch reports.
“He was shouting help! Help! and then slumped. People did not want to go near initially because of the Ebola scare that has been in town,” the security operative said.
It was gathered that officials at the airport tried to resuscitate him with oxygen but all effort proved futile.
Some officials of the British Embassy later came in the evening to evacuate the corpse of the diplomat from the airport.

Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command,
Mr. Wahab Salau said that a foreigner had died at the airport on
Tuesday afternoon.
When contacted last night, the British High Commission spokesman, Robert Fitzpatrick, in a text message said, he could not confirm the passage of the diplomat.
However, a letter written by the Federal Ministry of Health Port Health Services, which was signed by Doctors E.E. Ukatu and Abdullai, and made available to THISDAY by airport sources, stated that the passenger after disembarking was observed to be clutching his chest and asking for help.
On examination, he was found to be pale, in respiratory distress (gasping for breath), his pulse was rapid and thready. Efforts were made to administer oxygen, and suction was applied via a suction machine to clear the airway but he unfortunately suffered a cardio-pulmonary arrest and he was certified dead at 4.26 pm.
