Punch Reports
The party declared that Agbaje was poised to sack the All Progressives Congress (APC) from governance in the state. The party made the denial on Monday in a statement by its Publicity Secretary of the Lagos PDP, Mr. Gani Taofik and the Secretary of the PDP in Ekiti State, Mr. Tope Aluko, the party described the allegation as mischievous.
The PDP said, “Our conclusion is that the APC either in Lagos or anywhere are known to be lazy in intelligence and lack the ability to see beyond their noses hence their chiefs are always found to be shallow in argument and issues of national importance.”
The party stated that rather than sack workers, Agbaje would employ more workers and improve their welfare.
The statement read, “For the sake of clarity, Governor Ayodele Fayose sacked the APC in Ekiti and not workers. Fayose has, in fact, employed workers in Ekiti and with better remunerations than did Dr. Kayode Fayemi. The workers, now under probation in Ekiti, were hurriedly employed by Fayemi to put a burden on Fayose.
“Very many of them do not even have employment letters. Fayose is screening them and we can assure you that the qualified workers will continue in office and others will be redeployed to proper offices. Interestingly, in Lagos, even Mr. Akinwumi Ambode is planning to declare an emergency against unemployment by inaugurating an employment trust fund, this is an admission of inadequacy in that expectation. This is an indictment on the APC in Lagos”.
It assumed that Ambode initiated an unbearable salary scale in the
Lagos civil service and promised that Agbaje would correct this as well
as lift the impediment on promotions.
It added, “For the information of the public, the last APC government in Ekiti State recruited young men and women to the Ekiti State Traffic Management Corps without any appointment letter or even a temporary correspondence with the Ministry of Works and Transport that was to be the supervising ministry.
“These young men and women were only deceived that they will be engaged properly in an indefinite manner just for the purpose of the second term bid of the then APC governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and for almost three years, he didn’t give them any employment letter.
“The case of the recruits in the peace corps was even pathetic as they were being cajoled to believing that they were going to be part of the state police that was never contemplated by the National Assembly then.”
The PDP said it was a useless exercise to compare Ekiti with Lagos.
It will be recalled that the Lagos State chapter of the All
Progressives Congress has warned Lagosians not to vote for the
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party next month as
the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said, “Agbaje
would embark on mass sacking just like the Ekiti State Governor.
He also added urged the civil servants not to forget that while many states and the Federal Government had failed to pay the December salaries, the Lagos State Government did not only pay on time but also added a 15 per cent salary bonus.

thoroughly before coming out with such misrepresentation, adding that
the claim further showed that the APC could stoop to any level to
mislead the public.
