At the meeting held at Obasanjo’s hilltop residence, he was said to have put Jonathan in the hot seat, asking him five crucial questions.
It was gathered that President Jonathan chose not to respond but rather pleaded for understanding and cooporation, Leadership reports.
A seemingly remorseful President decided not to give any response to the questions but appealed to Obasanjo for his support as he goes into the February presidential elections.
It had been reported earlier that the supposed peace meeting ended in a fiasco as Obasanjo was not pleased with Jonathan over his recent provocative utterances against prominent Nigerian statesmen, including him (Obasanjo).
A PDP source hinted that the presence of the overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and founder of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, at the meeting was to soften the ground for Obasanjo to attend to Jonathan.
There has been a cold war between the former President and his estranged god-son. Obasanjo had since refused to endorse Jonathan’s re-election bid, saying he promised to serve only one term.
His rejection took a turn for the worse when he recently declared that he was for “Anything But Jonathan” (ABJ) to several of his aides following their supposed peace meeting.
