*Amina Sawok, and Thabita Walse, The Two Girls That Escaped From Insurgents
Two girls, who gave their names as Amina Sawok, and Thabita Walse, said they jumped out of the truck they were being transported in by sect members.
According to Sawok, it was around 11pm, and they were
in the hostel when one of the men dressed in military camouflage asked
them where their dining hall was, adding that the sect members took them
to the dining hall and from there, they were moved into the waiting
vehicles that headed towards Damboa town.
Walse, on her part said it was a long story, adding that the sect members came to their school disguesed as soldiers.
"They
were dressed in military uniform and made us believe they were about
rescuing us only for us to later find out that they were insurgents.
When we discovered, it was already too late and there was little we
could do" Walse said.
She said she jumped out of the truck they were conveying them with when it developed a problem and they were forced to stop.
"I took the opportunity with some girls to run into a dark bush" she said.
Sawok,
said she risked the escape because she has heard a lot about the bad
things Boko Haram do, and how they have killed many people in the state.
"I
was afraid and I became desperate. I felt getting to their camp could
be dangerous for me and it would be better if I escaped. That gave me
the courage to jump out. I believed that I would only get injured since
it was dark and they may not know how to look for me in the bush" Sawok
said.
She said the escape was not premeditated,
adding that immediately one of the abducted girls jumped off the truck,
they too followed.
She, however, noted that she
would have loved all the girls to escape, adding that she
can't celebrate because some of her friends and classmates were still in
captivity and she doesn't know what they are going through now.
Sawok said she pray for her friends and classmates to be freed soonest.
Walse,
who said she had no problem, assuring that she was physically strong
and okay said; "The only problem I have is that some of my friends are
still held hostage by terrorists".
