Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) has lost his foster mother, Hajiya Safiya Akere to death.
The deceased who died at the age of 101 May 22, last Thursday evening at the family house along Kuta road, Minna, after a brief illness was mother of the director-general, MDGs, Niger State, Dattijo Aliyu.
The three-day Fidau prayer for Hajiya Safiya Akere has taken place in their family house in Minna.
Babaginda who returned back to the country from Germany on the day his foster mother died, yesterday, during the prayers in Minna spoke of how much he'll miss her and she meant so much to him.
He said: “When there was a problem, she had a way of solving it in a simple and less sophisticated way.” He prayed that Allah would grant the deceased a peaceful rest.
Alhaji Dattijo Aliyu, the son of the deceased, said his mother had always told him to forgive those who offend him and the counselling has always helped him in life.
The deceased was married to the younger brother of the late father of the former military leader, Alhaji Hassan Akere and was survived by other four other children.
Those present at the Prayers with IBB were General Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi, former Chief of army staff, Former Governor of Niger state Engineer Abdulkhadiri Kure and some top politicians in the state.
