IBB was talking with journalists at his home in Minna after hosting a delegation from National Population Commission led by the federal commissioner representing Niger State, Barrister Aliyu Datti.
He also requested that Nigerians should not fight each other over census but to live above ethnic and religious sentiment as its “just a routine exercise to know our population growth.”
The chief of defence staff Air Chief Marshal Alex Bade had earlier revealed that they have found the Chibok Girls but wont use force to extract them.
IBB said: “What he said is the right thing; it is only natural that the military does not give away information about their operations; it is part of their training.”
He also told Nigerians to believe that their defence chief’s pomise that they are trying to rescue the kidnapped young girls.
The former general also requested that northern stakeholders should help their governors to end this insurgency, he said: “We will continue to provide such advice or assistance, whatever the case may be, because we don’t have any other country; this is our country, we cant betray it”.
General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida was born in August 17 1941, and ruled the nation from 27 August 1985 till 27 August 1993 after he oerthrew Major General Muhammadu Buhari in a coup.
