A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday adjourned till July 8
the hearing of an application brought before it by the All Progressives
Congress (APC) seeking to be joined as a defendant in two suits filed
by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
When the matter came during the sitting, counsel to the APC, James Ocholi, moved the application for joinder dated April 15, 2014.
"The application is seeking an order granting leave to the APC to be joined as a co-defendant in this suit," he said.
It will be recalled that the ruling PDP in its suits filed in Mach seeks to compel the leaders of both chambers of the National Assembly to declare vacant the seats of the lawmakers who had defected to the opposition party.
The first suit has Senate President David Mark, 12 defecting senators and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants, while the second has House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal, 40 defecting members of the House and the INEC as defendants.
