Family Of Seven Was Killed By Generator Fumes In Lagos
A decomposing bodies of seven people were reportedly found inside a house by the policemen from Ijede division last weekend in Bagido area of Ijede Lagos.
According to reports, generator fume killed the whole family inside the house.
It was gathered that colleagues of the head of the family, Etim Edet, who works at Nigeria Brewery Plc, began to worry when he failed to report on duty for almost a week, an action they described as 'usual'.
When Edet didn't answer phone calls, some of his colleagues went to check on him at his home but noticed a stench that was emanating from the building.
According to the report, the bodies were found on their beds. The bodies were said to belong to Edet's second wife, his 17-year-old son from his first wife, an unidentified female relative, whose age was put between 14 and 15 years and three other children born by the second wife, aged seven, five and three years respectively.
During the inspection, the policemen found a 3.5 KVA power generator, fumes of which was suspected killed the seven people.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident. "At about 4.00pm, one Etim Edet , a staff of Nigeria Brewery Plc Lagos was allegedly found dead with his wife and five children on their beds at his residence at Bagido area of Ijede," she said.
According to Ngozi Braide, no sign of violence was discovered on the bodies. Thus, the victims were suspected to have died from generator fumes.
