Scores Feared Dead As Gunmen Attack Market In Borno

Scores Killed As Gunmen Attack Village Market In Borno
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents allegedly killed scores of people during an attack they carried out at a village market in Borno State, northern Nigeria.

This is  according to reports posted by Leadership online with reference to the Hausa service of BBC.

It was gathered that locals narrated that the gunmen stormed Kayamla market located near the state capital Maiduguri in the afternoon and started shooting sporadically at people.

One of the eyewitnesses, who pleaded anonymity, said:

"The sect members entered the market and began to shoot anyhow; they even shot our driver whose fate is not known — whether he will survive the gunshot — but Allah alone knows the best on his condition."

However, at the time of filing this report, officials have neither commented on the shooting nor confirmed the number of casualties.

Meanwhile, earlier that day, it was reported that security operatives managed to foil a suicide bomb attempt in the capital of Yobe State, Damaturu.
