Clerics under the auspices of Southern Nigeria Christian Elders’ Forum (SOCEF) have faulted Mbaka’s “prophetic message”, saying it was not inspired by the Holy Spirit.
According to the elders, who spoke to journalists shortly after their meeting in Enugu, Mbaka’s prophecy was merely his personal opinion, Leadership reports.
Mbaka, had about a week ago, blasted President Goodluck Jonathan over his helplessness in the war against corruption and inability to stop killings of innocent people in Nigeria.
Reading the communiqué of the meeting, Chairman of the forum, Bishop David Eberechukwu, said this was not the first time the catholic priest would be making such claims.
“In 2003, he said that the then Governor Chimaroke Nnamani would not get re-election and that if that happened, he would remove his cassock; indeed, Chimaroke was re-elected and up till today, he has not removed his cassock.”
“So, his message is just a personal opinion; it didn’t come from the impulse of the Holy Spirit”, he maintained,” he said.
The meeting was attended by archbishops, bishops and other Christian leaders from the South-West, South-South and the South-East, including Most Rev. A.N.C Anikwenwa, Bishop Dr. Peter Ogumuyiwa, Most Rev. Caleb Maduoma, Rev. Dr. Felix Ekiye, among others.

Mbaka’s recent criticism of Jonathan has been trailed by controversies.
The Youth Council of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo had described Mbaka’s speech as spiritual poison.
The Director of Social Communications at the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Rev. Monsignor Gabriel Osuhad said
Mbaka does not speak for the church but only for himself and is therefore responsible for his own utterances.
