The
people lament that commuter traffic on the Abuja-Keffi highway has
become especially hectic because of the security checkpoint set-up by
the military on the road following the bomb blast.

The Federal Government reacted to these claims on April 23, 2014, Wednesday, by the statement from the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku.
Maku asked the public for understanding, said this measure was for public safety. He further added that the checkpoint was not meant to inflict pain on Nigerians.
Maku has also assured that this measures would not be permanent and the government would consider all the possible options to ease the traffic in the affected area. He enjoined all the citizens to cooperate with security agents in the battle against terrorism in Nigeria.
From 75 to 100 people lost their lives in a bomb blast that rocked Nyanya motor park in the morning of April 14, 2014, Monday. In six-day time, the dreaded Boko Haram sect claimed responsibility for the explosion, threatened that more would follow.

“We feel the pain of our citizens and our hearts go out to those who, under the present circumstances, are compelled to endure long traffic queues because of the roadblocks that have been set up following the terror attack at Nyanya last week.”The minister wanted those affected to see the roadblock as a form of sacrifice, aimed at improving security situation in the area.
