Hoodlums Disrupt APC Ward Congress In Ondo Once Again

Fighting The Opposition: AGAIN, APC Ward Congress Disrupted In Ondo

The ward congress of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oba-ile in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, was disrupted by unidentified hoodlums on April 16, 2014, Wednesday.

The procedures have already been underway when hoodlums, numbering four, stormed the venue. The invaders were armed with dangerous weapons including guns, made a couple of shots to scare party members away.

However, the timely intervention of men attached to Oba Ile Division of the Nigeria Police Force and reinforcement from other formations brought the rowdy atmosphere under control.
Nevertheless, it was impossible to continue the election, because many APC members have fled the venue.

It would be recalled that the APC postponed the ward congress in the state last week, following a similar disruption in Akure, which left one person dead and 15 others were seriously injured. The stakeholders expressed fear that the congress might lead to violence in some parts of the state, especially Akure South Local Government Area.

The Akure South Caucus urged the APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, to cancel the local government congress in Akure South till when all the issues of violence at the party’s congresses were resolved.
