CHANGES: FG Promises No Touts, No Unnecessary Roadblocks, Check-Points In Nigeria's Airports

Federal Government intends to transform the way business is conducted in the 22 Nigeria's airports to meet international standards. The new strategies will be imposed starting from May 1st, 2014.

On Wednesday, Chairman of Presidential Committee on Airport security, Sylvester Monye, disclosed the information while leading the committee to the office of the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, in Abuja, to appeal for his support.

Among other innovations, Monye said, touts are going to be banned from all airports. Any unnecessary roadblocks and check-points in the airports' area will be removed to prevent congestions.

President Goodluck Jonathan has directed to set up an 11-man committee to address the challenges in the way airports are operating.

On his part, Minister Abba Morro agreed that the changes were long overdue and promised total support. He noted that the committee's efforts will help checkmate security challenges Nigeria is facing.
