Police Arraign 62-Year Old Man For Aiding Son's Escape

Tajudeen Fasasi, was on Wednesday arraigned before a Surulere Chief Magistrates' Court, for allegedly aiding the escape of his son, Gafar Fasasi.

The 62-year-old man, who stays at No. 38, Ramlat Timpson Street, Aguda, Lagos State, is standing trial for a two-count charge of conspiracy and aiding to escape before Magistrate, A.F. Adeeyo.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the accused committed the offences on September 24, 2013 at his residence.
He said that the accused stood as a guarantor for his son at the police station and he was released to him.
The prosecutor said that when the son was needed at the police station, the father could not produce him.
Iseghede informed the court that the offences were contrary to Sections 16 (1) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Adeeyo, however, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case to April 29 for mention.
