Women Of Borno Ready To Go To Sambisa Forest In Search Of Abducted Girls

Women in Borno State said they were ready to go to the Boko Haram's enclave – Sambisa Forest – in search of the abducted school girls missing since April 14.

"We are ready to go into the bush and appeal to the Boko Haram sect to release our children to us," said Prof. Hauwa Abdu Biu, spokesperson of a group BAOBAB For Women's Human Rights, at a press conference on Wednesday.

Biu said the women would embark on search if they have "enough security backing".
She said the abduction of the children was a crime against humanity. Biu pleaded with the insurgents to release the girls, lay down their arms and start a dialogue with the government.

BAOBAB spokesperson stressed that the women do not aim to fight the kidnappers but want "to beg them to release the girls in the name of the God that we all worship".

"We assure them [insurgents] of our motherly support toward rehabilitating them when the need arises," Biu said.

234 female pupils were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno by the suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

Sambisa Forest is where most of the deadly attacks of the terrorist sect are launched from. The girls are believed to be kept there.

Earlier this week some parents said that Boko Haram had threatened to kill them and their children should the search continue.
