El-Rufai Explains Why Rigging Of Ekiti Elections Is Inevitable

A former FCT Minister and one of the first fiddles of the All Progressives Congress, Nasir El-Rufai, warned that the Administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is doing its best to facilitate the rigging of this weekend’s elections in Ekiti State.

El-Rufai has summarised all these indications in his Facebook post on June 19, 2014, Thursday.
1. A deployment of an armoured vehicle on the airport runway on Thursday’s morning to Ekiti State for the political rally of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
2. The Governor of Rivers State Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi had obstacles with both air and land travel. Furthermore, he , allegedly acting by “an order from the above”. The military men have “wrongly, unlawfully and unconstitutionally” prevented him from driving to Ado Ekiti from Akure, Ondo State.

3. On June 18, 2014, the Inspector General of Police Muhammed Abubakar had “unlawfully, illegally and unconstitutionally” declared that no one can get in or out of Ekiti State. El-Rufai reminded that as long the country is not under military rule, “neither the IGP nor any person or authority can make such a declaration”.
4. El-Rufai Stated that billions of Naira were withdrawn from Diamond Bank in Lagos for the purpose of rigging Ekiti governorship poll. The money was transported to Akure by aircraft owned by a company in which PDP Chieftain Tony Anenih is a director.

What should Nigerians do?
The ex minister suggests that Nigerians and the international community “must rise against this increasing militarisation of our politics” by a the Federal Government.
“We must unite, rise and resist electoral and constitutional impunity. We must stand up for the rights of Governors Oshiomhole and Amaechi. These violations must be resisted and challenged in courts of law and that of public opinion.”
He further condemned that state of “the once-proud and courageous Nigerian Army” which now turned into an instrument of Goodluck Jonathan’s policy. El-Rufai reminded that the army t, arrests innocent citizens and “slaughters people like sheep”, instead of fighting the real enemy – Boko Haram.

El-Rufai prayed the Almighty God, asking to destroy the enemies of Nigeria, including the bad leaders, who “loot and plan the genocide of innocent citizens of Nigeria at night.”
